Information Technology Waves
Since the sixties we have surfed several waves:
- The mainframe
- The mini computer
- The fax machine (seems awkward now)
- The PC on MS-DOS
- The Windows PC
- The Internet
- The Web 2.0
- The Mobile phone with SMS/texting
- The Mobile Internet on smart phones
Each wave created new business opportunities and destroyed older and well established solutions. Even established businesses and companies have disappeared due to each new Information Technology wave.
The next thing ? Bitcoin
It could be Bitcoin: the digital decentralized currency with a limited total amount of coins.
The value still fluctuates a lot as with any new system.
Today you are confident with your trades in Dollar and/or EUR. Currencies that are being printed at a high pace. On the other hand Bitcoins are limited in quantity and a such could become a world trade currency as it is more practical and flexible than gold.
Still you need to beware of this possible next Information Technology Wave that might catch also your business by surprise.
Are you already preparing for Bitcoin?
