Which email programs do your subscribers use to open your newsletters? Or do they use mobile devices? If so, which devices? Now GetResponse makes it easy to find out, so you can see the full picture of the behavior of your subscriber base. Email Client Stats is just one of the many new features we have in store for you this year. Here’s how it works.
Recent Trends
According to the analysis of December 2012 data by Litmus, Apple iPhone accounted for the most email opens at 24%. Outlook comes in second at 16%, with Apple iPad third at 11%.
As of September 2012, 38% of all emails were opened on mobile devices, compared to only 17% eighteen months before—which means a 123% increase in mobile email opens.
Surprised? Of course, these are general stats, but you should by no means ignore them.
And now you can see what holds true for your subscribers. Just check your email stats and get a full and (more important) relevant picture.

Visit your Email Analytics panel (available from the Statistics tab) and choose Email Clients in the side bar.

You’ll now see the percentage of mobile and desktop/web-based email opens for your campaigns.
The panel shows the ratio of mobile versus desktop and lists all the most popular email clients your subscribers are using to open your emails.

What This Means for You
Now you can use all these optimization techniques to improve readership and response.
1. Optimize for Design
You can optimize your emails for the email clients that are most popular with your subscribers.
Test your design with Inbox Preview to make sure you’re using the right template and adjusting for the right number of columns. Don’t forget about the size and positioning of call-to-action buttons, social media sharing buttons, etc.
2. Optimize for Device
If you discover that a significant number of your subscribers open your emails while they’re on the go, be sure to focus on mobile design issues, to increase your response rates.

3. Optimize Delivery Timing
Timing can make a big difference in whether your emails are being opened and acted upon.
It may make sense to optimize the day and time you send emails, to capture more email-opening activity by more-dynamic mobile subscribers.
4. Optimize for Relevancy
Email Client Stats gives you a more complete picture of how your subscriber base behaves. This helps you make the content you provide more relevant while relevancy continues to be one of the crucial trends this year.
Try Email Client Stats and let us know what results you’re seeing. Is mobile becoming a huge trend for you, too?
