“By All Means. Give Me A Gift.”

suggestion-box “By all means. Give me a gift!” These are the words spoken from a young CEO when trying to present to a group of much older, experienced CEOs.

One of the more experienced guys stops the young, upcoming guy in the middle of talking to say, “Want some feedback?” He said it in a way that left you wondering whether he was going to give sage advice or rail on him.

His reply, featured above (By all means, give me a gift), is one of the reasons why that young CEO soon became one of the top.

Rather than acting in defense, explaining all his success, etc, this CEO decided to accept the feedback that was given to him.

Often times it’s easy for us to achieve even remedial success and all of the sudden we’ve become sages that no longer can accept advice. We’re too skilled to be able to accept that having all this success (at least in our own opinion) we can learn more.

I’ve seen this time and time again from certain people in the affiliate marketing industry.

One guy who had constantly talked to me on AIM and couldn’t find some success. He never really listened to any advice I gave and that carried over to when he was making some money for a short stint. Besides the unwillingness to accept feedback, with his success came arrogance and pride. And now, I don’t know where he is at, but I don’t think it will ever be the top.

There is a verse in Proverbs 9:9 that says, “Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.”

While it seems so simple and almost like a “duh!” proverb, it’s one that constantly is overlooked.

All that to say, learn to love feedback. Don’t ignore it; thrive on it.
